FAQs

Q. Where are Orchids from?

All our orchids are from Thailand and are from both tissue culture and cuttings. The young orchids plants are best quality and carefully selected from farms. Orchids plant usually gives their first stem when they are 8 to 9 months old. In a year that plant will give an average 5 to 8 stems.

The Orchids are cut and stored in a cool room at the packinghouse of the supplier. These orchids are collected in special climate control trucks and delivered to the airport. The cargo departs from Bangkok at 12:25am. These orchids fly from Bangkok on a night flight to arrive fresh the following day.

The time from cutting orchids to departing from Bangkok airport is about 27 hours. Upon arrival the orchids are checked and cleared by customs, our driver picks up the bundles and returns to our premises where we unpack orchids, check each tray over and then re-pack them for our customers.

Q. How do you take care of the Orchids once they arrive?

  1. After you receive the orchids package open the box immediately.
  2. After removing wrapping sleeve and water tubes from orchids, refresh blooms with a spray of water mist.
  3. If you find a small brown stick of wax please discard, this keeps moisture away from orchids in transit.
  4. If Orchids appear soft when unpacked, lay the orchids bouquet in a large container of water for 30 minutes and the orchids blooms will be ready for arranging.
  5. 1/2 inch (approximately 2cm) should be cut from the base of the orchids stems at a slight angle with a sharp knife then place the stems in a vase.
  6. Orchids should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  7. The Orchids will benefit from regular mist spraying. Water in the vase should be changed and removal of dead heads will prolong the life of these beautiful orchids flowers.
  8. Orchids can last longer in cooler temperatures but can suffer from cool drafts.

Q. What is cool draft?

A cool draft is moving air that is cooler than the ambient temperature, such as air from an open window on a cool day.
